Police: No charges in case of boy falling out 5th-floor window

Neighbors and loved ones are counting their blessings after a 5-year-old Bronx boy survived a fall from a fifth-floor apartment window.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. by the corner of Bristow Street and Boston Road.

Police say there have been no charges in the case, and it appears it was a terrible accident.

Multiple people have written on News 12 the Bronx's Facebook page that the boy's mother had just put him to bed so she could put her other three children to sleep. They also write that she had left him just two minutes before he fell.

Police say the boy fell through an apartment window that did have guards on it.

Several neighbors who say they saw it happen say that the boy was moving after the fall.

According to the NYPD, the boy injured both his legs and torso. His condition has since been upgraded to stable condition.
