Police: Man fatally shot in the back on Boston Road

Police say a 32-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning in Eastchester.

Authorities say the man was shot in the back after a fight at the intersection of Boston Road and Bivona Street around 2:15 a.m.

He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The location where the man was found was near a bus stop. A cellphone, shopping bag and shell casings were left behind as evidence, and the intersection was blocked off as police investigated.

Police say they are searching for the suspect believed to be a man in his 20s, who fled the scene.

Community leader Donna Jordan says members of the Boston Secor Houses across the street were promoting peace in the neighborhood hours before the shooting.
