Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is urging the community in Bedford Stuyvesant to get involved and take action against the growing drug addiction to K2.
Adams handed out fliers at the intersection of Broadway and Myrtle Avenue on Wednesday in the hope of warning residents about the dangers of K2 use.
Police say that on Tuesday, 33 people were hospitalized after overdosing on K2, a form of synthetic marijuana.
Officials say the call reporting the possible overdoses on Stockton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant came in around 9:30 a.m.
Witnesses reported seeing victims lying on the sidewalk, shaking and leaning against trees and fire hydrants near Broadway and Myrtle Avenue.
Police say the victims were taken to Woodhull and Wyckoff hospitals and did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Even though selling K2 is a misdemeanor in New York City, some stores continue to sell the drug. Residents also tell News 12 that K2 use in the area has reached epidemic levels.
