NYCHA repairs leaky pipe after tampering at Bronx River Houses

A busted pipe that disabled two elevators and forced people to climb 14 flights of stairs inside of the Bronx River Houses has been repaired, according to housing officials.
NYCHA officials say the leak started on the ninth floor of building number 7 at East 174th Street in Soundview Wednesday.
Elevator service inside the 14-floor building was halted as NYCHA officials worked to repair the leak throughout the night. They say power was also cut to the building for about an hour.
Witnesses say they saw a waterfall like stream of water pouring down from the ceiling of the elevator.
Officials say someone tampered with a pipe causing the leak.
