Best of the Bronx: Music therapy around the globe
A musician used her skills at a recent internship with North Central Bronx Hospital's music therapy program.
Catalina Pierhaita, who is originally from Colombia, also took part in a weeklong program in Kenya to teach English to children there.
She says she'd always been fond of psychology and helping others, so when a friend introduced her to music therapy, she was eager to take it up.
The therapies are designed to help patients work out frustrations, increase energy or become more socialized.
Now that the internship is over, Pierhaita is working on her thesis.
