Police: Bronx dad fatally shot in the back

Police say they're investigating a shooting Tuesday night that left a Bronx father dead outside of the Melrose Houses.

Officials say Andrew Maldonado, 24, was found shot in the back. They say one of their ShotSpotters detected gunshots just before midnight on the corner of E. 153rd Street and Courtlandt Avenue.

Maldonado was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Friends of the victim say he was the father of a 1-year-old boy and grew up in the area.

Police are still investigating the incident and have made no arrests.
