An East Tremont woman was found dead Thursday in her apartment, where she lived alone, according to authorities.
Neighbors near the woman's home at apartment 7C within 2000 Prospect Ave. tell News 12 that her name was Valerie. They describe her as a nice woman and say she was in her 50s.
It's unclear who discovered the body, but the building's maintenance manager says a social worker visited the apartment earlier in the day.
Police say the death does not appear to be suspicious, but some neighbors say circumstances appear to be odd, because they had not seen the woman in around eight months.
