Group promotes basketball to counter violence
A summer program aims to pull high school students together and away from gun violence with basketball.
The idea is to "Shoot the Ball, Not the Gun," organizers say. That's also the name of the nonprofit group behind the program.
High school players up to age 18 can register for the program.
According to organizers, it gives teens a positive alternative to violence during summer break.
Games are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Williamsbridge Oval Park. The program ends on Aug. 30.
