The city Office of Emergency Management deployed a mobile office on Southern Boulevard this week to prepare Bronx residents for disasters ranging from flooding to the spread of infectious diseases.
The mobile office opened outside City Councilman Rafael Salamanca's office.
Employees handed out pamphlets on a variety of topics, including the dangers of synthetic marijuana, preparing pets for extreme temperatures and how to get ready for hurricanes.
Another focus was the Zika virus, which has spread from Latin America to the mainland United States.
The mobile office is expected to return to Southern Boulevard and Westchester Avenue once a week.
