Breast cancer awareness fundraiser aims to get men involved in the Bronx

The American Cancer Society hosted a breast cancer awareness fundraiser breakfast in the Bronx Wednesday in hope of getting more men involved in the campaign.

Bronx residents gathered at the Villa Baron Manor in Throgs Neck to show support for the 'Real Men Wear Pink' event.

Activists and survivors shared their stories of courage and breakfast, all while supporting a good cause.

"Everybody needs to understand that cancer is universal, it doesn't discriminate - for me it's personal because I have my sister-in-law who passed away from cancer, and currently my daughter's mother is suffering with stage 4 cancer," one man said.

"I'm just very happy to be here with all the survivors that are here, and I hope one day that we will definitely find a cure."

Organizers say the event will lead up to the 'Making Strides against Breast Cancer'' walk in October.
