BX residents protest Swizz Beatz’s art fair
Some Bronx residents protested the No Commission Art Fair hosted by Bronx native and hip-hop mogul Swizz Beatz in Mott Haven.
Organizers put together their own art fair just down the block because they say there were no regional artists at the No Commission Art Fair.
"The idea was to include Bronx artists who were left out of the commission show," says Edwin Pagan, organizer of the counter art fair.
They say they are also upset that Swizz Beatz's event is at a building owned by developer Keith Rubenstein, who is behind the new waterfront condos coming to the neighborhood and a controversial piano district billboard.
Swizz Beatz said he has always been for the people and still is.
The community hopes to collaborate with Swizz Beatz in the future to hold an art fair just for Bronx Artists.
