Hundreds of backpacks handed out to school children in the Bronx

A back-to-school street fair supplied children with free backpacks and other school supplies in the Bronx Friday.
The Bridge Builders Community Partnership helped donate school supplies at the back-to-school "Summer Jam" on West 164th Street and Ogden Avenue in Highbridge.
The group gave away 550 backpacks packed with school supplies like notebooks, binders and pens to children in the Bronx.
Donald Somerville, program manager of Bridge Builders, says it's important for the group to help ease the financial burden of parents during the back-to-school season.
Backpacks and school supplies are available while they last.
