Two vehicles struck a 65-year-old man as he attempted to cross the street near Bronxdale and Barnes avenues Tuesday night, police say.
One of the drivers fled the scene, and the victim was later pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.
Surveillance video shows Ralph Fino attempting to cross the street before he was struck by a light-colored van traveling eastbound on Bronxdale Avenue. He was thrown into the air and then hit by a dark green Honda Odyssey that was traveling westbound on Bronxdale Avenue.
Police say the video also shows a suspect exit the van after hitting Fino, look at his body, then drive away.
The 33-year-old female driver of the Honda Odyssey remained on the scene. The van fled eastbound on Bronxdale Avenue.
Neighbors say Fino was a nice guy and once worked as a mailman. They say he spent much of his time on Bronxdale Avenue frequenting local businesses.
