Grand Concourse tenants get receiver in ongoing battle for repairs

Grand Concourse tenants are claiming a small victory against a landlord they say was keeping them living in deplorable conditions.
The tenants at 888 Grand Concourse say they have been fighting the landlord to make basic improvements for many years. The fight increased after a recent foreclosure on the building, forcing many people to contact various advocacy groups and take the landlord to court.
The court granted the tenants a receiver, a person who will work to fix some essential services, including a boiler and elevators as well as weatherizing the interior.
A meeting is scheduled to be held in the near future with the receiver to see what type of improvements can be made in the building.
