Public officials across the country remembered the lives lost in the Sept. 11th terror attacks just days before the 15th anniversary.
In Washington, D.C., members of the House took to the steps of Capitol Hill to honor the victims Friday.
Also in Washington, D.C., Attorney General Loretta Lynch spoke alongside FBI Director James Comey, and together they held a moment of silence for the victims.
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke on how New Yorkers respond to extremism.
"In fact, you could even say, the terrorists' plan backfired, that ultimately we became stronger, we became more unified, we figured out ways to make ourselves safer, we found ways to make ourselves work together that we hadn't before," said Mayor de Blasio.
Pipe and Drum bands from around the country also marched down Broadway in Manhattan Friday.
The bands were led by the NYPD's Emerald Society and traveled to the law enforcement memorial wall.
