Hispanic Heritage month begins today

Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage month.
The month lasts from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, and is dedicated to celebrating the culture and contributions of Hispanics and Latinos across the United States.
Observance first started as a weeklong celebration back in 1969, but was later expanded to an entire month in 1989.
Latino lawmakers are also introducing legislation that would create a national museum dedicated to Latinos.
