Mom wants DOE to step up school bus service
A Bronx mom says that she's been waiting since September to get school bus service for her son.
Rubi Hernandez says she has to bring her 5-year-old to the Bronx Charter School for Excellence on Holland Avenue by 7:45 a.m. Then she backtracks the opposite way for work.
"I have a job to report to, and my job is at risk because I need to get to work," she says.
According to Hernandez, the city Department of Education told her there would be bus service beginning on the first day of school.
"And what's happening now?" she asks. "No bus service."
News 12 reached out to both the DOE and its Office of Pupil Transportation for comment, and is waiting for a response.
