A spokesperson has confirmed to News 12 that a Saks Off Fifth will be replacing the Barnes and Noble at Bay Plaza.
Some members of the Bronx community are annoyed that the only Barnes and Noble in the borough is closing its doors.
"We need books in our community and for them to take it down for Saks is stupid," one resident said.
Others in the area say that it is time for something new and it will be nice to have a new store close by.
Saks Off Fifth signed a 10-year lease for the 25,000-square-foot space. Barnes and Noble's lease is up in January and the new clothing store hopes to open its doors by August of next year.
