Police arrest man accused of assaulting 15-year-old girl

Police have arrested a man they say brutally attacked a 15-year-old girl.

Police say officers arrested Shaun Lewis Friday. They say he faces multiple charges including attempted rape, strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child.

The 27-year-old is accused of meeting the teen at the Gun Hill Road subway station Monday morning.

Police say Lewis walked with the victim around 4 a.m. to Bronx Boulevard near East 213th Street before beating and sexually assaulting her.

Officials say Lewis stomped on the victim's head, knocking out her teeth.

The 15-year-old was found hours later by a person walking along Bronx River Park. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

News 12 is told Lewis lived nearby the area where the attack occurred.
