Bronx church prepares 1,300 Thanksgiving meals
Volunteers at the Union Grove Baptist Church in the Bronx prepared more than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate Friday.
Congregation members and students helped assembled 1,300 meals inside the basement of the church.
Organizers say each meal will be handed out at the church next week and supply Bronx families who are in need of a Thanksgiving dinner.
Volunteer Tamara Anderson says giving back is an important part of the holiday season.
"A lot of people can't afford this stuff, so when you get a chance to give, you should just give and be thankful," she said.
Aside from receiving canned items like corn, cranberry sauce and stuffing, each family will also receive a whole turkey.
