Straphangers: Birds drop No. 2 at No. 6 train station
Straphangers in Soundview want to give fellow riders a heads up about bird droppings at the St. Lawrence Avenue No. 6 train station.
A thick layer of bird poop buildup coats the sidewalk below the train platform, in front of many nearby stores and around a busy bus stop on Westchester Avenue, they say. 
Aside from the mess, there are concerns about possible health hazards, such as transmissible yeast and fungal infections. 
Residents in the area say the problem worsened after the widening of the sidewalk, which also gave birds more space to perch.
They want the city to wipe it all clean, but the Department of Sanitation says the MTA is responsible for cleaning its stations, and there is some confusion because the droppings fall from the MTA platform above to the city sidewalk below.
