'Tis the Season: 52nd Precinct helps spread holiday cheer
Police officers from the NYPD's 52nd Precinct held their first annual holiday float procession Tuesday evening to spread some holiday cheer.
They handed out candy canes and toys as they rode on a Christmas float through crime heavy spots in Norwood and Bedford Park.
The float was donated by Tatiana Rodriguez, a community member.
"We just want to share this experience with the community and bond with them," said Peter Fiorillo, Deputy Inspector of 52nd Precinct. "Although we are police officers, we are on the equal path in life."
Police Commissioner James O'Neill has been leading this effort to help community members to know cops in a brand new way.
