Police identify man fatally shot in West Farms

Police have identified a man who was fatally shot in the back in the West Farms section of the Bronx.

Corey Smith, 24, was shot and killed Tuesday night in the area of 175th Street and Crotona Park North, police say.

Police responded to a call for a person shot and found Smith lying unconscious and unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead.

Smith's sister says he was the father of a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl.

The Bronx father was a resident of the Monroe Houses in Soundview. His family says he was undergoing job training to become a construction worker.

Police say no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
