A caregiver from Bedford-Stuyvesant helped make the holiday season a little brighter for one Queens family.

Zena Foster, of Partners in Care, traveled 45 minutes from her home in Bed-Stuy each day to the hospital where Marie Notario, of Ozone Park, was being treated for kidney disease. Notario was gravely ill, but with help from Foster she made a miraculous recovery and is able to do what she loves at Christmas: make gifts by hand for her family members.

Foster spent her days with Notario cooking, singing and making sure she had a friendly face to see each day. Now, Notario is busy making dozens of hangers that feature hand-stitched hearts and bow ties.

Notario says Foster was more like a friend than a caregiver and is so grateful she is able to spend the holiday with her family.
