Allerton NYCHA tenants say heat is out in building

A couple of senior citizens living in an Allerton NYCHA building say that they've been without heat as temperatures are falling for winter.

Ophelia and Julio Cruz say that part of their Boston Road Plaza building isn't getting heat.

"It's been very, very cold," she says.

The Cruzes and other residents say a NYCHA worker came to check the radiator after numerous complaints to 311 -- but then left and did not return.

Neighbors, many of whom are senior citizens or have disabilities, say they use electric heaters in the day but shut them off at night to reduce the risk of sparking a fire.
