Low overpass in Kingsbridge causing trucks to get stuck

A low overpass in Kingsbridge has been badly damaged on two separate occasions after trucks became stuck trying to go underneath.

The overpass at 231st Street and Broadway, located underneath the 1 train subway line, has been the site of two accidents in two months involving trucks trying to fit their way under the overpass.

The first of the incidents occurred in November and the other occurred this past Thursday.

Kingsbridge resident Flor Mitchell provided News 12 with pictures of the incident that showed major traffic delays and debris spread across the roadway hours after the accident.

Residents say there needs to be warning signs for truck drivers about the low underpass.

A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation says they are aware of the concerns and will inspect the location.
