Police charge man with murder after fatal New Year’s Day stabbing in the Bronx

A suspect accused of stabbing to death a man in the Bronx in what police say was the first homicide of the New Year in the borough has been charged, police say.



Devon Campbell, 38, is accused of fatally stabbing Will W. Berry,42, inside the victim's Hoe Ave. apartment in Claremont just after 5 a.m. on Sunday. 



Police say Berry was found with stab wounds to his chest and head inside his blood covered apartment. Berry was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.



Police say Berry had many prior arrests, most recently for criminal possession of a controlled substance.



Campbell is facing murder charges, according to police.
