Pelham Bay Park straphangers want station spruced up

Some local straphangers say the Pelham Bay Park No. 6 subway station is falling apart.

They say pigeon droppings, peeling paint and the aging overpass look bad and create safety hazards.

The complaint comes just after the MTA announced new fare hikes, and riders say they want their money to go toward patching up a station they say has been neglected for years.

The MTA says it has made numerous improvements to the station already, including new platform canopies. The city also installed overhead nets to try and dissuade pigeons from frequenting the area.
