2 pit bulls found tied to tree in Castle Hill

Two pit bulls were found tied to a tree, without water and left to fend for themselves in Castle Hill.

A good Samaritan and another jogger found the dogs at Barrett and Torry avenues Wednesday afternoon and decided to call police. The two also brought the dogs food and water.

It's unclear when the dogs were abandoned, but a neighbor told News 12 that he saw two men walking them earlier in the day.

Police say there is no criminality involved.

News 12 reached out to the Animal Care Centers of NYC for a response. In a statement, it says the dogs "have not had their medical or behavior evaluation yet. We have named them Mars and Neptune. They are currently at our Manhattan Care Center."
