Stray bullet enters basement, strikes woman in neck
A stray bullet struck a 21-year-old woman in the neck in Concourse Village early Friday, police say.
The victim was playing dominoes in the basement at 840 Grand Concourse around 4 a.m. when a bullet blasted through a door.
The building's superintendent says his son had gone outside the building to investigate what sounded like a fight nearby.
The son, who was also playing dominoes with the victim, got into an argument when he realized the noises were coming from near his parked car, police say. They say the person he argued with was likely the shooter.
The son went back into the building, and police say the gunman fired multiple shots through the door, one of which struck the victim.
She was rushed to Lincoln Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and she remains in critical but stable condition.
Police are still looking for the gunman, who they describe as a man in his 20s last seen wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt.
