Bronx Commons housing complex breaks ground Friday

Community members and elected officials broke ground on a mixed income housing complex in Melrose on Friday.

The space will not only bring a much needed 305 apartments to Melrose but a 300-seat music venue and retail spaces as well.

"We often are talking about music in a negative way. But this is something that could be game changing that you can have music, housing, economic development and education all in the same place," says state Assemblyman Michael Blake.

Developers say that this is a plan that they have been working on with residents for the last 20 years.
