Fan4Kids program brings healthy living to Bronx students
A healthy living program has been introduced at a Bronx elementary school.
Kids at P.S. 14 are learning about healthy living through a program called Fan4Kids. The program is a school-based nonprofit that teaches students the importance of eating right and exercising.
Councilman James Vacca, who allocated the funds for the program and helped get it into the schools, was proud to share in the program for the first time at P.S. 14.
"We here in the Bronx have obesity issues, and I wanted to fund a program here that starts kids really early about what's healthy and what's not healthy and how important exercise is, and this knowledge will last them for the rest of their lives," says Vacca.
Vacca says he also hope to bring the program back next year.
Instructor Andrea Gayja says the program has truly made a difference, and that she has seen kids bringing in more fruits and vegetables in the last few weeks.
