Group honors fallen indigent veterans

An organization in Woodlawn honored 51 veterans Saturday who died in New York City with no family to claim or bury them.

A Mass was hosted at St. Barnabas Church by the organization Catholic War Veterans.

Group members say they are hoping to raise awareness about the issue of homelessness and mental illness among veterans.

Saturday's service was the first Mass the organization celebrated for indigent veterans in recent years.
