Best of the Bronx: Artist links Haitian, Dominican culture

A Bronx-based artist is turning conflict into her very own cultural craft project trying to unite two countries.

Dominican-American fashion designer, artist and curator Yelaine Rodriguez is mending the divide her way, showing the link between Haitians and Dominicans through art.

Rodriguez, a South Bronx native and graduate of Parsons School of Design, says her goal is to show that art cannot be leaked to just one nation.

She says she hopes her culture connections help mend those that are divided. Her work has been showcased at various exhibitions.
