Elevator at Morrisania complex broken since Christmas

Residents of an apartment complex in Morrisania are frustrated after living without an elevator for almost a month.

The residents of 1118 Intervale Ave. say the elevator stopped working on Christmas and that nothing has been done to fix it. There are seven floors in the building, making it hard for some tenants. Some residents say they have been unable to leave the building because the elevator is not working.

The Department of Buildings says an active violation for the elevator was filed on Jan. 4 and another violation was posted today.

The tenants say the super of the building has been good at keeping them updated, but add they have heard nothing from management. They hope to see repair crews soon.

Calls to the landlord and the elevator company by News 12 were not returned.
