Police: Tourniquet saves stab victim; girlfriend charged
A Fordham woman stabbed her boyfriend in their Marion Avenue apartment Tuesday morning before police arrived, put her in handcuffs and performed life-saving first aid, investigators say.
The 48-year-old victim is in critical but stable condition, with multiple wounds in his legs and back, according to authorities.
Police have charged his 53-year-old girlfriend, Phyllis Reed, with the crime.
Officers Mark Preira, Edward Bogucki and Enver Gashi, from the 52nd Precinct, arrested Reed and performed first aid on the victim, authorities say.
Gashi used a tourniquet on the man's leg to stop his bleeding before he was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.
Reed faces felony assault charges.
