New video released in Ramarley Graham death
Newly released surveillance video of the 2012 death of an unarmed Bronx teen at the hands of an NYPD officer shows a different angle from the footage publicly available for years.
As News 12 has reported, Ramarley Graham was shot and killed in his family's apartment by Officer Richard Haste. The family argues that the new video proves Haste knew Graham did not pose a threat before the shooting.
Previously released video of the incident shows Graham run into the home. A few seconds later, Haste tries to follow, but the door is locked. Other officers arrive, and Haste goes to the back of the home.
The new video shows Haste behind the home holding his gun but slowly pacing around. He goes to the back door, and it appears that someone lets him inside.
Graham's family argues that the video shows Haste was calm and did not perceive a threat.
As News 12 has reported, Haste was never criminally punished for the incident. A departmental trial recently concluded, and a decision on Haste's future with the department will either preserve his job or leave him fired.
Haste's lawyers have maintained that he acted appropriately in pursuit of a person believed to be armed.
