2 men rob Wakefield deli at gunpoint
Police say two men robbed a deli in Wakefield at gunpoint.
The incident happened Friday night at Pitman Grocery and Deli on Pitman Avenue.
Clerk Pedro Rafael Vaz says he was behind the deli counter Friday night when the two masked men, believed to be in their 20s, came into the corner store demanding money.
"He told me, 'Give me the money. I give you two shots in the face, give me the money, give me the money, don't move -- you move and I will kill you,'" recalls Vaz.
Vaz says he was told to get on the ground with his head against the wall at gunpoint, while a second suspect demanded money from his colleague.
The suspect then struck Vaz's colleague in the head with his gun.
That worker was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where News 12 has been told he received several stitches to his head.
Although Vaz wasn't physically injured during the attack, he says his family is tortured by the event and that his children have told him to quit.
Police say the suspects left with a total of $800.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
