Alt-side parking rule proposal 'appalls' Throgs Neck residents
Residents in Throgs Neck tell News 12 that a proposal to institute alternate side parking on two separate blocks is "appalling."
The Parks Department and Department of Sanitation says it submitted the request to Community Board 10 in November. It would affect Miles Avenue between Balcom and Emerson avenues. It would also be in effect for Emerson Avenue between Miles and Schurz. Both blocks border Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point.
"We didn't have any problems until the golf course was put here, so I would assume it has to do with the golf course," says one resident.
Residents say both sides of the streets are needed because it's already tough to park in the area.
A Parks Department spokesperson told News 12 that the new parking rules would allow the Department of Sanitation to clean the street weekly with a mechanical sweeper and give staff full access to clean and weed-whack in the area.
According to Community Board 10's website, members will be discussing this topic at the end of the month.
The alternate side parking proposal was first reported in the Bronx Times.
