Murder suspect silent before grand jury

The Melrose man accused of fatally beating a father of six in their building's elevator declined to testify before a grand jury at the Bronx Hall of Justice Wednesday.

Junal Jordan faces charges of murder and manslaughter in connection with what police call an unprovoked attack on Bakary Dabroe, 46.

Surveillance video from the building shows Jordan shadow boxing in the hallway moments before grabbing Dabroe. Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's friends say that they don't think the two men knew each other.

Jordan has several prior arrests on charges that include robbery and reckless endangerment. His next court date is Feb. 27.
