Commuters brave winter storm in City Island

Commuters in City Island are braving the 10 to 12 inches of snow expected to fall over a very short period of time Thursday.

Officials with the MTA say they are out shoveling and putting down salt in slippery spots around subway terminals and platforms.

Kendra Civibanes-Macmillan, a Bronx resident who regularly commutes, says she was hopeful after waking up to find only a coating of snow on the ground, however, she says her hopes were dashed by the time she got outside to heavy snow that began to fall.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Bronx until 6 p.m.
