Ice expected as temps drop overnight
While crews had cleared some major roads in the borough after Thursday's snowfall, forecasts showed plummeting temperatures in the evening that could create dangerous road conditions.
There were some areas of ice on the roads, even after the evening commute. Authorities warned drivers to take it slow.
Ice could remain a problem for pedestrians and drivers as more slush puddles freeze.
Road crews continued to work into the evening, but temperatures were expected to drop so low that salt would no longer be effective.
The below freezing temperatures will continue into Friday with highs near 30, according to News 12 meteorologists. There may be less than a half-inch of additional snow Friday night.
Temperatures are expected to climb back to the 40s over the weekend, with a chance of rain showers both days.
