Man seriously hurt in 2-alarm Bronx fire

Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after a two-alarm fire broke out inside a home in Belmont Friday.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a multifamily house on East 187th Street around 9:30 a.m.

The fire expanded to the building next door and officials say they rescued a man hanging outside of the window trying to escape the flames when they arrived on scene.

He suffered serious injuries from broken glass while attempting to climb out of the window, officials say and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and a second person refused medical treatment at the scene.

At least 120 firefighters responded to the blaze.

Officials did not say how the fire started.
