Bronx parents rally due to Catholic school closing

Bronx parents are rallying to save St. Mary's School in Wakefield after they were informed the school will be closing.

The Archdiocese of New York said that the Catholic school is closing due to financial reasons and unutilized space.

Parents say their children were informed of the closing on Monday, before they were told.

This past week, the Archdiocese of New York announced changes to six Catholic schools in the Bronx, Manhattan and Sullivan County.

The school is set to turn into a universal preschool, according to parents.

Parents are being encouraged to register their children at nearby Catholic schools in their district.
