Pastor forgives woman who stole from church donation box
A Bronx pastor gave a woman who stole money from his church's donation box last week a second chance.
Pastor Stephen Norton, of the Saint Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, says he received a phone call last Wednesday from the Bronx District Attorney's office saying that Christa Polito, 30, turned herself in for stealing from his church.
Polito was to be charged with petit larceny for taking $300 from the box, but Norton instead decided to drop the charges.
Norton's reasoning was to give the woman a second chance.
Norton encouraged anyone in need of any type of help to come to his church, but also was sure to say that stealing is never the answer.
