Valentine’s Day flower sales surge
Business is blooming for florists in the Bronx a day before Valentine's Day.
Orders flooding in range from traditional bouquets of flowers to balloons to stuffed bears.
"For this Valentine's Day we will probably move 7,000 red roses," says Lea Davis, from Bella's Flower Shop. "It gets really busy, and the reason is everyone wants their flowers on the 14th. Not the 13th, not the 15th. So you get all those orders in on one day. Since it lands on a Tuesday, a lot of people want to send flowers to people's jobs versus a weekend thing."
For procrastinators, the shop plans to meet new orders until 4 or 5 p.m. Tuesday, Davis says.
