Bronx dad: School buses are late or don’t show up

A Bronx father says school buses assigned to his children rarely show up, and that when they do, they're late - so News 12 The Bronx went to the bus stop Wednesday morning to investigate.

Daniel Viruet says his two sons, Jovanty and Jacob, are supposed to be picked up at 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 a.m, respectively.

"It's 7:47, and they still didn't go to school," he told News 12 at the bus stop Wednesday morning.

After waiting a few more minutes, Viruet's phone rang. A dispatcher from Little Richie Bus Service told him Jovanty's bus would arrive in 20 minutes.

"Now we got to wait 20 minutes for my son Jovanty, because the bus broke down," Viruet said. "So 20 minutes from now will be 8:30."

Viruet gave up and decided to drop off his sons himself.

News 12 caught up with him again a short while later.

"On my way, one of the buses showed up for Jovanty at 8:35 -- 45 minutes late," he said. "And not even in the right spot."

News 12 called the bus company about the incident, but the person who answered the phone could not immediately answer questions.
