Bedford Park neighbors fear overdevelopment
Neighbors say they fear overdevelopment will overshadow Bedford Park.
As a remedy, they want the city to block the construction of larger buildings in the area.
Residents, city officials and members of Community Board 7 met in Bedfork Park Wednesday on the issue.
A representative from the city's Planning Department said that although a so-called downzoning is possible, it is unlikely. Among the reasons, he cited ordinances that have been in place for years and the mayor's commitment to developing all five boroughs.
But City Councilman Andrew Cohen, who was also at the meeting, likened some of the proposals to a "wild west-style of development."
