James Monroe H.S. cheerleaders return to the Bronx
The James Monroe cheer team has returned to the Bronx after raising money to become the first Bronx public school to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship.
The team raised almost $30,000 to pay for the trip to Florida. For some members, it was their first time traveling on an airplane.
"To see these girls' and boys' faces, with their smiles when they were down there, that passion and that hunger to want to come and prove themselves, has been by far amazing," says coach Cheriece White. "I am so proud of them. Win or lose, we made history going down there."
The Eagles placed seventh out of 14 teams, but members are excited for a chance to return next year.
