Cops arrest suspect in fatal Kingsbridge shooting
NYPD officers say they have arrested a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of a man on Heath Avenue last night. Authorities say they have taken Deshawn Coleman, 34, into custody. They say he is accused of shooting Victor Maldonado, 19, in the chest. The victim was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. Investigators say Coleman and a woman were seen running into 2805 Heath Ave., and that he was arrested shortly thereafter. One of Maldonado's friends says the shooting stemmed from an argument involving that same woman. Family and friends say Maldonado was popular around the neighborhood and that he was planning on joining the Navy. As for Coleman, police say he has 26 prior arrests on his record.
